Growing the Community
Garland Shetler opened Shetler Printing because he saw a need for Middlefield, OH to have a printing company in town to help the community grow. Shetler printing began with letterpress style printing when they opened their doors.
Shetler Racket Store was owned by Sam and Anna Shetler. It was the type of store that carried a little bit of everything. The smallest boy in the picture was Garland Shetler who went on to start Shetler Printing in 1932.

Good News
Garland Shetler bought the Good News Newspaper from two men in Windsor, OH. One of the many unique things Garland would do to grow his business is he would ask people who had discarded his paper, why they had discarded them? He would then ask them what they would like to to see in the paper, and then adjust accordingly.

Most Respected
Garland Shetler continued to run Shetler Printing and the Good News Newspaper over the years and strived to perfect the customer service experience. He would go on to become one of the most respected individuals in the Middlefield Community.

Across the Street
After many years of great business, it was time for Garland to move the company into a larger space. Shetler Printing moved from a building that was directly across the street from our current location to The Middlefield Historical Society Building which still stands to this day.

Open For Business
Meanwhile, Larry and Lois Gidley started L.B.L Printing’s humble beginnings from the garage at Larry’s mother’s house in Willoughby, OH. He used a small printing press and very limited bindery equipment.
LBL Founder, Larry Gidley, Sr. Circa 1959. Larry is operating a single color, Multilith 1250 Offset Printing Press. Larry was producing catalog sheets for a Food Equipment Manufacturer.

From Willoughby to Concord
In 1977, Larry and Lois Gidley moved L.B.L. from Willoughby to their house in Concord. They spent the following years raising a family and growing the small business to the point that in 1991, it had occupied 1 bedroom, the entire basement, and their two car garage.

New Owners
Don Cimorell, Sr. and Tom Henry bought Shetler Printing.

1987
Seeing the Future
In 1987 L.B.L. Printing bought an Itek 3985 Two Color Printing Press. It was their first brand new press and would go on to serve their business needs for many years.

1992
New Boss
After graduating from college, Brian Gidley joined LBL full-time and took over the day-to-day operations of the small family business.

1993
Expanding Operation
Larry’s son Brian Gidley graduated from business school and took over the operations at L.B.L. Printing. He learned the business quickly and held the same passion for printing as his parents did. Later on in 1993, L.B.L. moved from their previous location to a commercial facility in Concord, OH. They doubled their square footage which allowed for their business to expand.

Vast Company Knowledge
Joan Jemison – a 30+ year Shetler associate – buys Shetler Printing from Don Cimorell & Tom Henry. After Joan took ownership, she partnered with her son Tracy and Daughter-In-Law Bonnie to run the business together as a family. The Jemison family moved the company from the Good News building at 14905 N. State Ave. across the street to its current location at 14960 S. State Ave.

Adapting & Improving
L.B.L. bought a direct to printing plate system. This new technology was 60% faster allowing for faster turnaround times and increased efficiency.

1999
Acquisition
Continued growth was sought and found when the Gidley family bought Shetler Printing & Office Supply in Middlefield, Ohio.

2007
Commercial 4-Color Printing
LBL entered the Commercial 4-Color market with the purchase of a Komori 4-Color Offset Printing press.

2008
Another Acquisition
The growth and expansion continued when LBL merged operations with Sprice Graphics in Mentor, Ohio.

2010
Double the Office Space
LBL Printing moved to its current location on West Prospect Street in Painesville, doubling the size of the business and streamlining operations while expanding the sales and production departments.

2013
New Look, Same Experience
Shetler Printing becomes Shetler Office Solutions, and starts to provide much more than your typical print shop or office supply store.

Full-Service Agency!
LBL Branding, Marketing, and Printing is now a full-service marketing and media agency, offering social media, content management, website development and maintenance, and promotional products.
